On September 12, it was announced that Enge had failed a drug test during the Hungarian GP weekend.
On October 1, the World Motor Sports Council excluded Enge from the results of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
As a result of the loss of 10 points, Enge lost the F3000 season championship to Sebastian Bourdais.
Enge was allowed to keep his FIA license.
